How Long Do Fillers Last? A Guide by Area

Filler longevity depends on the product and the area treated. Here is a guide to how long each type tends to last.

How long a filler lasts depends on two things: the type of product and where it is placed. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Biostimulators like Sculptra and Radiesse can last up to 2 years because they prompt your own collagen. The area treated matters as much as the product.

Lips

Lips move constantly, so fillers here break down faster than anywhere else. Expect 6 to 9 months from a hyaluronic acid filler. Most people return for a touch-up once or twice a year.

Cheeks and midface

The cheeks are a larger, more stable area. Fillers here last 9 to 15 months. Biostimulators can extend that to 2 years by building collagen over time. The midface is often the first area to lose volume with age.

Under-eyes

Under-eye fillers last 9 to 12 months. This is a delicate area where technique matters more than product. We use a cannula and plan conservatively. Swelling here can be more noticeable than in other areas.

Jawline and chin

Fillers in the jawline and chin last 12 to 18 months because these areas move less. Biostimulators like Radiesse work well here for structural support. This is a common area for people who want definition without surgery.

Biostimulators

Sculptra and Radiesse work differently. They do not fill in the way hyaluronic acid does. Instead, they prompt your skin to build its own collagen over 2 to 3 months. The results appear gradually and can last up to 2 years. We often recommend them for people who want a natural, long-term result.

How to make results last

Sun protection, skincare and avoiding rapid weight changes help. We pair fillers with a skincare plan to support the skin quality around the treatment. Results vary, and no filler is permanent.
